2019 Lincoln Continental Review, Redesign
After wowing the spectators during the 2015’s New York auto show with the Lincoln Continental Concept, the automaker has finally revealed the manufacture of its new version of the full-size sedan. In the process, they have revived an iconic nameplate in this process. The latest Lincoln Continental has largely stayed true to the concept car that was shown in New York in 2015. Lincoln promises that this new 2019 Lincoln Continental will deliver the first-class experiences thanks to the cabin that has been crafted to be as quiet as possible.
2019 Lincoln Continental Review
The 2019 Lincoln Continental will feature plenty of nice touches that include a lighting sequence that will welcome the driver. LED lights on the lower fascia, taillights, headlights and interior lights have been designed to activate in a fluid and subtle manner to greet the driver as the mat lights illuminate its lower front door.
Normally, heavy cladding on front fascia suggests major restyling, but compared to the current model, the Lincoln Continental prototype may not have extreme exterior redesign changes. Most notably, the Lincoln Continental sheds off most of its black plastic with the pocket sized luxury crossover having more body-coloured surfaces. The other redesign changes include new bumpers, redesigned headlights, a new grille and a shorter front fascia. The cladding in the hood is probably the best hint that the Lincoln Continental will get powertrain changes, and the prototype is likely being used to test cooling and airflow to the new engine. This might also explain why there’re no changes on the rear end of the Lincoln Continental, although there’ll almost surely be changes made to the rear taillights as well.
Like the exterior, the interior will probably get changes, too. Spy shots haven’t shown any of its interior, but as with most GM mid-cycle updates, there are great chances for a reworked instrument panel. This will very likely focus on the design and technology of the centre stack and gauges, and the latest GM infotainment technology may be included. High zoot trim levels will feature piano black trims on the centre consoles, door panels and on the dashboard. It will feature a new touch screen which should be more suitable for the current infotainment system and a highly comfortable four-zone air conditioning system. Other high-tech settings and accessories include USB and Bluetooth connectivity as well as satellite navigation.
2019 Lincoln Continental Engine and Performance
The 2019 Lincoln Continental will probably be available only with the 1.4-liters turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This will likely change with the updated design, with a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder engine rumoured to join the engine lineup. The 3- cylinder engine is currently in use on the Opel Corsa, where it’s rated at 115 hp and 125 pound feet of torque. If used in the 2019 Lincoln Continental, this may be less power than the current engine’s 138 hp and 148 pound feet of torque, but it can improve fuel economy over the current rating of 33 mpg highway and 25mg city.
The security features of this brand-new 2019 Lincoln Continental shall consist of rear view mirror, parking sensors, airbags, safety belt as well as alarms.
2019 Lincoln Continental Price and Release Date
The price of the updated 2019 Lincoln Continental should not change very much from the current model that is priced at $24,065. There’s a chance that the new engine will be added as an extra option rather than as a replacement, adding another pricing level in the Lincoln Continental line-up. The Lincoln Continental is expected to be unveiled during the New York auto show that will be held this year.
